ANTI-WRINKLE TREATMENT

What does it do?
The primary use of anti-wrinkle treatments is to reduce facial lines – or eliminate them altogether. However, these days it is also used to reshape the eyebrow area and treat excessive underarm sweating (known as axillary hyperhidrosis) by blocking the chemical that triggers perspiration.

When used to treat wrinkles it takes away a stressed or anxious appearance, making you look younger and more relaxed. It improves lines around the eye, between the eyes and the forehead and can also be used to recreate the shape of your eyebrows.

How does it work?
Unfortunately, because we are continually moving our facial muscles, wrinkles appear over time. Anti-wrinkle injections can temporarily weaken and inhibit the action of those facial muscles that cause the lines. The same principles – weakening and inhibiting specific muscles - apply when the aim is to reshape and contour the eyebrows

Are there any side effects?
With the treatment of lines, the injection causes about 30 seconds of stinging, and occasionally a slight swelling or bruising may occur. You also have to remain upright for 4 hours after your treatment and resist touching or rubbing the area.

Wrinkle TreatmentsAnti-wrinkle treatments injections can be used to treat a wide range of medical conditions, and are used to reduce wrinkles, stop excessive sweating and treat migraines.

Anti-wrinkle treatment injections have been used safely for more than 20 years in the treatment of medical conditions such as double vision and facial muscle spasms in both adults and children.

The main cosmetic use for anti-wrinkle treatment injections is to improve lines around the eye, eyebrow and forehead. These wrinkles form with time from activity of muscles in these areas. Anti-wrinkle treatment injections can be used to temporarily weaken these muscles, causing the lines to diminish after treatment, as the muscles no longer function to produce them.

If anti-wrinkle treatment injections are used to treat lines that are very shallow, then often these disappear completely. If the lines are deep and permanent then other treatments such as dermal fillers or Fraxel laser resurfacing may be required if you wish the lines to be removed completely.

If you start regular treatments with anti-wrinkle treatments injections before permanent lines start, then you will delay and possibly prevent wrinkles appearing, helping to maintain a youthful appearance.

Treatment involves a series of tiny injections into the muscle directly beneath the frown line. The injection causes about 30 seconds of stinging, and occasionally a slight swelling or bruising may occur. The effects will be noticeable 4-7 days later and lasts for between 3-6 months. The results often last longer with further successive treatments.

Complications are uncommon but can occur. The most common complication is partial eyelid droop (occurring in about 2% of injections), and eyebrow droop or asymmetry. This may last up to three weeks, after which it resolves itself. Anti-wrinkle treatments is not to be used in pregnant or lactating women.
