LASER HAIR REMOVAL What does it do? How does it work? Due to the cyclic nature of hair growth, effective treatments only occur within the hair’s active growth phase so several treatments are necessary. Most areas can be treated in 20-60 minutes. However, large body areas such as legs and backs, may take up to 90 minutes. Are there any side effects? LASER HAIR REMOVAL
Laser hair removal will treat dark, coarse hair on any part of the body, and reduces problems with painful, unattractive ingrown hairs both in men and women. Laser hair removal uses a highly concentrated light source that is absorbed by the pigment in the hair follicles. The temperature in the follicle rises enough to destroy the follicle structure and prevent regrowth. Hair grows in cycles. The most effective treatment occurs within the hair’s active growth phase - with only 20-30% of hairs in any area being in the active growth phase at one time, several treatments are necessary. On average four to six treatments are necessary, spaced 6 weeks apart. Once you begin the laser treatments using depilatory wax or plucking is not a good idea because pulling the hair from the follicle works against the principles of laser removal. However you can use other methods like shaving or depilatory creams to achieve a hair-free appearance between laser treatments. Please click here to download a pdf with more information. |
